![]() Below is a list of upcoming events that may be of interest to those working on gender and trade issues. IGTN events are in bold. November IGTN will hold a workshop during the XI AWID International Forum that will take place at Cape Town/South Africa. September 2008 IGTN Member will join WTO Public Forum will be held from the 24th to the 25th. IGTN Africa reconstruction meeting will take place in Dakar/Senegal. Further at: secretariat@igtn.org June 2008 IGTN members will join the 2008 Annual Conference of International Association for Feminists Economics - IAFFE that will take place in Torino/Italy, from the 19th to the 21th. From the 1st to the 6th Marta Lago - IGTN Secretariat and Patricia Jaramillo - IGTN Colombia were in Bogotá and Santa Maria for the Paralel Regional Meeting on Aid Effectiveness. May 2008 From the 13rd to the 16th LAGTN will promote a workshop during III Linking Alternative in Peru/Lima, and IGTN Brazil focal point will launch the video "The fights against water privatization in Brazil" that soon will be also available for download in Spanish and Portuguese version. LAGTN is promoting a Virtual Seminar on trade, gender and advocacy. For Spanish and Portuguese speakers only, from the 10th of May to 30th of August. HBF Summer School on Engendering Macroeconomics 2008 is been organizing in cooperation with IGTN ASIA. It will explore the linkages between trade, financial policies and gender equity. April 2008 - IGTN members will attend UNCTAD XII in Accra, Ghana, from 20 to 25 April 2008 and the Civil Society Forum which will be convened from 17 to 25. IGTN activities in the Forum will happen on the 17th from 1.30h - 4h pm on the Accra National Theatre -Women and Food Sovereignty: Understanding the Issue and Moving to Action- as well as on the 19th of April - Global Governance, Policy Space and the Prospects for Advancing Human Rights -, from 2h pm to 3.50h pm on the Accra National Theatre, Room Lv2.1 (Accords Bilaterau). - IGTN is one of the networks that is organizing the joint Campaign Against EU FTAs which will take place on 7-9 April, in Brussels/Belgium. Further: Barbara Specht February 2008 IGTN Ste Committee Meeting will take place in Rome from the 18th to the 22nd. December 2007 - From the 16-18th Graciela Rodriguez - REBRIP and IGTN Brazil and Alma Espino -Ciedur/IGTN Uruguay focal point will join "Cumbre de los Pueblos del Sul" that will take place in Montevideo. - Vivian Costa from IGTN Brazil (Equit Institute) will join the Seminar "Agenda Agrofuels: Opportunity or Danger? A Global Dialogue on U.S. and EU Agrofuels and Agriculture Policies and their Impacts on Rural Development in North and South" in Berlim, Germany, from the 12 - 14. November 2007 - Mariama Willians, IGTN Jamaica, will hold a Panel at the Division for the Advancement of Women of the United Nations, in collaboration with the Financing for Development Office, Department of Economic and Social Affairs entitled “Financing for gender equality within the context of follow up to the Monterrey Consensus”. At the 12, New York, USA, from to 4 – 6pm - LAGTN will hold a Panel and a workshop during the “Summit for Friendship and Integration of the Ibero-American Peoples”, from the 8th to the 10th. This event will take place in parallel to the 7th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, in Santiago, Chile. - WIDE One-day consultation on “EU Bilateral and regional free trade agreements - bringing women to the centre of the debate”, sponsored by the European Commission. It will be held on the 22th of November at the Amazone, Brussels. For further information: Barbara Specht October 2007 - UE Monitoring Commission in join collaboration with Centro America GTN promotes a Workshop with Norma Castañeda from RMALC in the 9th, ADEJUC in Guatemala. Further information: Norma Maldonado. - IGTN Panel at WTO Public Forum 2007: Presentation and discussion some of the major challenges faced by developing countries to achieve coherent and equalitarian development policy at the national level, while facing inconsistent and contradictory development recipes by the two sets of international organizations. IGTN Panel will take place in the 4th, Session 12, Geneva. - IGTN Geneva Office contributed to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development - UNCTAD Hearing on the 2nd October 2007. Further contact Mariarosaria Iorio - IGTN Central Asia focal point is starting a research project “Trade policy in Central Asia in the context of accession to WTO September 2007 IGTN were invited to participate on “Mobilizing Aid for Trade: Focus Latin America and the Caribbean” that will be hold in Lima, Peru, on the 13th to the 14th. This event is organized by the IDB and the WTO in cooperation with the WB. March 2007 IGTN Latin America and Guatemala´s Mesa Global will be organizing a join workshop on Gender, Economy and Trade as part of the Program Training of Trainers - TOT which has been developing since 2002. It will be held in Guatemala, from the 8th - 10th of March. |
