The IGTN BULLETIN provides analysis on gender and trade issues and updates on the WTO negotiations from our Geneva desk representative. The bulletin also features updates on various regional trade agreements, research, literacy, and advocacy initiatives, and highlights new gender and trade resources and events. The IGTN WORKING PAPERS Series provides technical documents analysis on gender and trade issues. This Series was launched on 2006 in order to present main issues of specifics thematic that are related to international trade. Here it can be seen by its eletronic version. 1. “The Doha Develpment Agenda (DDA) and Aid for Trade - finding the Policy Link”; by Mariarosaria Iorio, Rio de Janeiro, IGTN Secretariat, September, 2006. In Spanish: "La Agenda del Desarrollo de Doha (ADD) y la Ayuda para el Comercio: buscando la conexión política" The paper critically analyzes the rationale and principles of Aid for Trade as presented by the Task Force to the 27 July 2006 General Council and identifies policy and issues and evaluation indicators of an eventual implementation of Aid for Trade. It analysis and questions theoretical references and principles underpinning Aid for Trade as well as offers conclusions and recommendations. 2. "Global Governance, International Devepment Discourses and National Policy-Making: highlights of critical issues" By Mariarosaria Iorio, IGTN Secretariat Rio de Janeiro, June, 2007. This paper points out the lack of coherence in global development discourses as presented by international organizations that influence national policies, namely the Bretton Woods institutions, the WTO, the United Nations and its specialized agencies. It also presents some of the critical issues related to national policy-making, and offers some recommendations. 3. "Bilateral and Regional Free Trade Initiatives: political and sectoral issues" By Mariarosaria Iorio, IGTN Secretariat, Rio de Janeiro, October, 2007. This paper refers to the regional trade agreements and free trade agreements as strategies to foster their economic and political partnerships with developing countries.
