![]() IGTN - Middle East and Gulf: Structure Since IGTN-Middle East/Gulf (IGTN-MEG) has just recently joined the network, the following information on the work done by CRTD.A reflects the work to be carried out by IGTN in the region. CRTD.A (Collective for Research and Training in Development – Action) acts as IGTN antenna in the Middle East and Gulf. It works within a framework of gender equality and social; justice. It focuses on gender, economic rights and justice and trade, gender and citizenship, gender and leadership and knowledge for social development.
Its work on gender, economic rights and justice and trade includes micro interventions with women producers, action research, training, policy dialogue and advocacy. CRTD.A/IGTN-MEG is currently involved in a number of regional initiatives including: 1) Economic literacy training and the development of regional and country based economic literacy training material in collaboration with 2) Action research on the impact of trade agreements on selected economic sectors (namely textile, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and agro-industry, IT and women’s home-based work) 3) Information and communication on key gender and trade issues in the Arab region. 4) In collaboration with the Heinrich Boell Foundation, a regional advocacy programme on gender and trade is now being developed.
