The first meeting of Asian Social Movements takes place against a background of what is
shaping up as the worst crisis of global capitalism since the Great Depression, seventy years ago. Charting our direction for the future is greatly dependent on accurately understanding the nature and dynamics of this crisis. This statement looks at the issues of: Global Capitalism in Crisis, Consolidating the Challenge, Militarism, International Financial Institutions, the World Trade Organization, Political and Cultural Identity, Food Sovereignty, Agriculture and Trade, Labor and Worker's Rights, Peoples' Rights over Natural Resources, Media and Communication. |
